Who are we?

agm has three founding partners, all of whom have worked together extensively in the past and who have complementary areas of specialist knowledge.

John Ayton John Ayton FCA
Prior to the formation of agm, John was with PricewaterhouseCoopers for over 25 years; the last 18 years as a partner. John’s areas of particular expertise include: pre-flotation/fundraising advice and assistance; corporate governance and assurance; and transaction based services such as due diligence and advice generally. John offers you his extensive experience of working with, and acting as a sounding board to, the senior management of a wide range of businesses in relation to an extensive range of issues. This is coupled with a highly personal approach to professional relationships.

 

Clive Gregory Clive Gregory FCA
Clive is a corporate tax specialist with 25 years experience in providing advice to both listed and private companies in a wide range of business sectors. He recently retired as a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers, a position he held for over 13 years. Clive’s experience has covered most areas of corporate taxation, but his particular areas of expertise are in corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, disposals and corporate reorganisations. He also has considerable experience in the taxation issues arising from property transactions. His work has also involved advising UK subsidiaries of overseas parented groups on the tax implications of setting up and operating in the UK and UK parented groups on structuring overseas acquisitions and operations.

 

Peter Mendham Peter Mendham
Peter is an indirect tax specialist with many years of experience in all aspects of VAT and Customs and Excise duties . He spent 20 years in H.M. Customs and Excise before leaving to join Deloitte Haskins + Sells (now PwC) in Cambridge in 1987. There he worked with John and Clive for 7 years and built up the indirect tax practice so that it became the largest in East Anglia. Peter then became partner in charge of the KPMG West Region indirect taxes team. He subsequently worked for leading City law firm Allen + Overy as head of its indirect taxes team. Peter's experience covers all aspects of indirect taxes, with particular skills in the financial sector and in cross-border trading issues. He is also widely recognised as the bloodstock industry's leading VAT adviser.
